After the Louisiana Purchase, the Garden District was one of the first neighborhoods to be developed. The name for the area of New Orleans comes from the beautiful, large gardens found throughout. The Garden District is found near the Central Business District and it borders Uptown, as well.
Today, the Garden District is most-known for the amazing historic mansions. Many southern-style mansions with incredible architecture are found throughout the area. This neighborhood shows off Victorian, Italianate and Classic Greek Revival styles and attracts many visitors every single year.
